Fix constant sign-in prompt for Microsoft Platform

If you're constantly being prompted to log in to your Microsoft account there are a few ways this can be resolved:

  1. Sign out of your M365 Apps
  2. Reset the Windows Credential Manager
  3. Reboot

Signing out of your account in M365 Apps:

  1. Open Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  2. Go into File > Account 
  3. Click Sign out (in Outlook the tab is called Account)
  4. Proceed to Windows Credential Manager Reset Below.

Resetting the Windows Credential Manager:

To reset your credentials you need to:

  1. Go to the Credential Manager in the Control Panel of your computer (Control Panel > User Accounts > Credential Manager)
  2. Under Generic Credentials locate all items for MicrosoftOffice16_....
  3. Expand each line item
  4. Click Remove and then Yes to confirm

5. Do this for every line item for MicrosoftOffice16

6. Reboot.

7. Open an M365 App. You will most likely need to enter your Microsoft 365 credentials again so ensure you tick any box that says remember my credentials.  M365 should now work and not keep prompting for your credentials.
